COURTNEY DALE BYRD (Son of Jesse Byrd) - and STOCKTON FAMILY

Mr. Chambers,

I happened on your article and was fascinated to read about my dad's history.  My daddy was Courtney Dale Byrd.  His dad, he and his sisters referred to as "Pa Jess", and I was told owned Byrd's Store in Cross Cut.  My grandmother was Charlottle Ellen Pearl Stockton, and married my grandfather after her husband died. (He was a Stockton).

My dad and mother, Charlotte Arlene Passow Byrd (she is from Redrock, Oklahoma),  owned and ran a flower shop in Perry Oklahoma until dad became ill and disabled from cancer, and they lost all they had and moved to Amarillo, Texas, where he died at theVA hospital in 1991, April 4th.  He is buried in Perry Oklahoma at Grace Hill Cemetery.

His sisters, Elva Bracelin, Bernice Franklin, and Faye Stephens, are all deceased. The girls and my Granny are all buried at Fort Stockton.

My mother is living with my brother Larry Dale Byrd in Enid Oklahoma.  Elva has a daughter Garrilynne Rainwater living in Marble Falls, and Jo Gregg living in Austin, and a son Lester Carter Junior, I don't know where he lives, and Roland Harrison died suddenly 2 years ago.

Bernice’s son, Wayne Reed Balcum has a family and I believe he is in Fort Worth. Faye and her  husband Robbie are deceased and they had a daughter named Gretchen with two sons Montey and Gayland Rosenbaum, and I don't know where they  are  except Montey who died.

I live in Amarillo and my husband is Johnnie Cherb.  We have a son Cameron and he has a son Dylon.  We also have two daughters, Deana Lucero, who has a daughter Kalie, and Angelia Wing.  Deana lives in Amarillo, and Angelia lives in Edinberg Texas.

My dad was only 12 when his dad died, I think of old age.  Anyway, I thought you might like to know where some of the branches of this little Texas community spread.

            Thanks for Remembering,
