Doyle, down in Ala. thought you may be able to help me with my family.  First
two different cousins have confirmed that my ggf JAMES C. CHAMBERS's b Ga.
1837 ,first cousins were JAMES W. CHAMBERS b SC 1840 AND PHILLIP
CHAMBERS b
SC 1839.  I believe that JAMES A CHAMBERS b SC 1814 was JAMES C's father but
have not proof of that at this point.  JAMES A lived in Habersham Co. (later
becoming White Co.) and according to Richard Chambers, JAMES A's brother
William b abt 1795 SC also lived in White Co.  JAMES A AND WILLIAM were
owners of the Gold mine in White Co.
According to GA CSA pension records, JAMES C was raised in Greene Co. Ga
during the 1840's (a ways from White Co.).  James C. was first picked up on
1860 census living in Hancock Co. with wife Sarah Busby and Moses Chambers b
abt 1790 SC.  Moses died sometimes between 1860 and 1870 as his wife and
children were living in Wilkie Co. Ga.   JAMES C. was a Methodist and is
buried at Ridge Methodist Church in Lowdnesville, SC (Abbeville Co.)  James
C.'s children were John G, Robert, Lee Ander, Annie (by Sarah) and Henry,
Charley Noah, and Minnie by second wife Mary Elizabeth Hannah (b 1853 TN)
James C. moved from Hancock Co. in 1870 to Hart Co. for a very short time
(where Joseph S. lived) and then to Winterville (Oglethrope Co.) where he
lived until the late 1890's when he moved to Harper's Ferry (Savannah River)
just across from Abbeville Co. SC.
I found out this past weekend that my great uncle Charlie Watkins who is
about 83's mother was Nancy Chambers (two of his brothers according to
Charlie were John and Lonzo).  This was a complete surprise to me as his
sister had married my gf Noah.  Noah's wife Allie Janie Watkins' mother was
not Nancy Chambers.  However Nancy Chambers lived in the same area on the
Savannah as my ggf James C.

Norris, I left out two of James C.'s children - after Lee Ander (Leander?)
came George W, and James Thomas (both of Sarah Busby)
Also, my uncle told me before he died that James C. had a brother William
Joseph (Joe) that moved to Texas in the mid 1800's.  Joe came back to Ga.,
married Mary Stiles and went back to Texas.  I have no other info on him.
Thanks, Randy

Can you help me tie James C. into the Chambers lineage?
Thanks for your help,
Randy Chambers
